The Kansas Highway Patrol and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are seeking help from the public to identify a vehicle and driver in a hit and run fatal crash, which killed a pedestrian (name not being released at this time, pending next of kin notification). The crash occurred Saturday, August 6, 2016, between 9:18 p.m., and 9:32 p.m. in Montgomery County. The location of the crash is east of Independence, Kan. on US-160 Highway, 3/4 of a mile west of US-169 Highway.

Evidence from the scene suggests the vehicle involved that authorities are looking for an early 1990’s model Pontiac Bonneville, dark gray or dark slate in color, with chrome trim. The passenger’s side headlight will be damaged, as will be the passenger’s side mirror. The passenger’s front window will be shattered, if not completely destroyed.

Anyone with any information about this crash is asked to contact investigating officer, Master Trooper Jason Black with KHP at (620) 431-2100 or Detective Todd Cook with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, (620) 251-3500. We thank the public for assistance with this investigation, and any leads will be fully investigated.
