No injuries in morning Overland Park house fire

(January 7, 2016) At about 6:45 this morning crews from Overland Park Fire responded to a vehicle fire at 167th and Grandview. While en route, crews were informed that the fire was spreading to a structure nd additional units from Johnson County Fire District #2 and Leawood Fire were called for help.

First units on the scene reported a van in a driveway on fire and fire spreading to a two-story, single family home. A neighbor reported people still inside the home. Firefighters located an adult male at the front door who told them of three additional people inside. Firefighters then forced open a back door and evacuated an adult female and two children.

While one crew conducted a search of the residence to be sure it was clear, others went to work attacking a significant in the garage and attic. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 40 minutes.

No injuries are reported. Fire investigators are looking at a van in the driveway that was reportedly hooked to an electric block heater as the possible origin of the fire, but the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
