(August 4, 2015) On Monday, August 3, 2015, at 4:48 pm, Overland Park officers were dispatched to an injury accident in the intersection of W. 103rd Street and Mission Rd. There were initial reports that came out indicating one of the individuals was deceased and was possibly struck by gunfire.

The investigation revealed no one was suffering from gunshot wounds, but we did have a driver who sustained life-threatening injuries and another who was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries, both as the result of the accident.

A white male, in his mid 30's, driving a black Mazda, first struck a vehicle in the intersection at 95th and Mission Rd. in Prairie Village. He then continued southbound on Mission at a high rate of speed before running a red light at 103rd and colliding with three other vehicles. (He sustained the life-threatening injuries).

Several weapons were found inside the vehicle at the time of the collision, but it is unknown what role, if any, they played in the accidents.

There were no reports of any other crimes in the area or calls of shots fired.

The cause of the accidents are still under investigation by the Overland Park Police and the Prairie Village Police Departments.
