Shooting Update: 7800 W 61st Ter - Adult Female Passes Away From Injuries

(July 6, 2015) - Overland Park Police responded to call of shots fired in the 7800 block of W. 61st Ter at 6:20 p.m. on today’s date. Dispatch received several calls regarding a gunman firing multiple rounds from a semi-automatic rifle into a duplex where nine people were inside, including seven children.

Two people inside were struck and a female in her mid 30’s has since passed away at an area hospital. An 11 year-old female also sustained non life-threatening injuries.

The shooter is described by witnesses as being either a light-skinned black or Hispanic male in his late teens. He was seen getting into a gray Grand Prix driven by another suspect.

The street where tonight’s shooting occurred is the same one where last week’s double homicide occurred. Investigators are looking into any connection to those murders.
