UPDATE: Shots Fired at Oak Park Mall

During the evening hours of 6/29/15 two men surrendered themselves to the Overland Park Police Department in connection with this investigation. The names of these two men will not be released until charges have been filed. They are currently being housed at the Johnson County Jail.

(June 27, 2015) - At approximately 6:45 PM Overland Park Police Officers responded to reported shots fired in the parking lot of Oak Park Mall. The victim, a male in his 20’s, was confronted by two suspects as he was walking to his vehicle parked near Macy’s. As the victim approached the door to his car, both suspects opened fire, but did not strike the suspect. The victim fled in his car and later contacted police dispatch to report the incident. There were no reported injuries.

Officers on the scene are reviewing video recordings, processing the crime scene and are interviewing witnesses.

Suspect #1 is a Hispanic male in his 20’s, average build and tattoos.

Suspect #2 is a black male in his 20’s, average build and dreadlocks.

Police reported that this was not a random shooting as the victim knew the suspects. They are hoping to release surveillance video or pictures tomorrow.
