New interchange coming to U.S. 69, 159th Street

Motorists looking for easier access to U.S. 69 other than 151st Street will have another option in less than two years.
Last week the City Council approved a $17.7 million bid to build an interchange at 159th Street and U.S. 69.
Work may begin as early as September. Crews will construct on and off ramps for the interchange, auxiliary lanes and bridge widening.
Funding for the project is coming from a unique team involving the Kansas Department of Transportation, city of Overland Park and Price Brothers Development. For Overland Park, this is the first time a private developer has participated in funding a highway improvement.
Price Brothers owns 300 acres of land at the southwest corner of 159th Street and U.S. 69 Highway. It is zoned for residential, offices and retail. It also includes a new public safety facility for police and fire services.
