Switzer, 75th Street intersection to close Friday; reopen Sunday

Overland Park, KS - Construction crews will close the intersection of 75th and Switzer for a new storm sewer drainage system beginning Friday night.
The intersection is set to close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 6 a.m. Sunday, weather permitting.
Switzer westbound traffic will be detoured at 75th and Antioch to Shawnee Mission Parkway; eastbound will be detoured at Nieman Road to Shawnee Mission Parkway.
Businesses in the area will remain open.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the southbound on-ramp to I-35 and the northbound off-ramp from I-35 will reopen.
Crews will close the southbound I-35 off-ramp and northbound I-35 on-ramp will close on Sept. 2.
Traffic over I-35 will also switch to the south side of 75th Street for work to begin on the north side.
Replacement is part of the $5.3 million project to improve 75th Street at I-35. Work includes new pavement, median construction, highway ramp work, repairs to the bridge deck, replacement of traffic signals and fence, storm sewer work, and sidewalks on this heavily traveled east and west roadway.
Work on the highway access and exit ramps is expected to be complete this fall; the rest of the project continues to spring of 2015.
The project is a joint effort involving the Kansas Department of Transportation, and the cities of Merriam, Overland Park and Shawnee.
