Overland Park Police Investigating Attempted Abduction Involving Child

At approximately 6:00 p.m. this evening, the Overland Park Police Department was contacted regarding an attempted child abduction which occurred today around 11:45 a.m. in the area of 87^th and Melrose Street.

The nine year-old victim reported she was grabbed by a white male, approximately 6’0 tall, medium build, with a blond “scruffy” beard. He was wearing a long sleeved red shirt, with black pants, black boots and a black hat. The suspect was not successful in his attempt and he drove away in a small green older model pick-up truck that was described as “beat up”.

The Overland Park Police Department is currently investigating and urges anyone that may have information on this person's identity to contact the police department at 913-895-6300.
