Put your chair design on display for all to see.

The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, 8909 W. 179th Street, is sponsoring its Adirondack chair design contest.

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to paint an unfinished, primed, full-size oak Adirondack chair beautifully hand crafted by the Amish.

Just 20 chairs are available for painting and ready for pick up.

Anyone interested in decorating a chair must submit a proposal for design and have it approved by the Adirondack Chair Committee.

Chairs must be finished and returned to the Arboretum by Monday, June 2. Chairs will be on display at the Arboretum June 7-30. All chairs will have signage identifying the artist's name and design description.

Chairs will be judged by the committee on Friday, June 6. The People's Choice Award will be voted on by visitors during the four-week display.

Prizes include $400 for first place winner in the botanical theme category; $400 for first place in whimsical theme category and $200 for People's Choice.

The chairs will be sold to the highest bidder. All proceeds go to the Arboretum for educational classes.
