Overland Park Police Investigating Attempted Abduction Involving Child

Police investigators are currently seeking information on an attempted child abduction that occurred this morning in the area of W. 87 Terrace and Nall Avenue.
The 14 year-old victim said she was waiting at the bus stop when a white male in a black pickup truck stopped and told her to get into his vehicle. The victim refused and told the suspect she was going to call the police. The suspect then quickly left the area.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 50’s, wearing a white T-shirt with a black logo on it. He had a bushy black and grey beard and wore wire rimmed glasses.
His vehicle is described as a large black truck, possibly a crew cab, with tinted windows, a trailer hitch, and distinct yellow (mustard) colored hubcaps.
The Overland Park and Prairie Village Police Departments will be providing additional patrols in the area.
