Power lines likely cause of afternoon fire

Shortly before 4 p.m. a resident said she heard a tree fall in her back yard and looked out to see
power lines on the ground and a fence on fire. She got out and called 911. Fire crews responded
to the 9000 block of Farley to find heavy smoke and fire from the back of a raised ranch residence.
Firefighters quickly attacked the fire, which had made its way into the attic, and knocked it down in
about 25 minutes.
No injuries are reported. The home suffered significant fire damage to the upstairs and attic.
Damage is estimated at 75-thousand dollars. It appears the power line pulled from the house
caused the fire, but the exact cause is under investigation.
