Two dogs rescued from Overland Park house fire
Two dogs were pulled from a smokey house fire in Overland Park this afternoon. No injuries are reported.
Shortly before 1 p.m. crews from Overland Park and Olathe Fire Departments responded to a house fire call in the 9400 block of west 162nd street. First crews on the scene reported smoke from the 2nd floor of a two story house. One of the residents was on the scene and reported everyone was out of the house, but two dogs were inside. Firefighters quickly located the dogs and brought them to safety. Crews then located a significant fire in the kitchen area of the home with heavy heat and smoke throughout the house. They quickly knocked down the fire and spent about an hour clearing smoke and putting out hot spots.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at over 200-thousand dollars.
