2nd Overland Park Officer Injured while Working Accident Scene

On January 31st, 2014 around 4:45 PM Overland Park officers responded to the area of 127th Street and Nieman to take a report on a non-injury accident. Just after the officer arrived he slipped on the icy roadway. The officer was transported with minor, non-life threatening injuries.

Around 8:10 PM, another Overland Park officer was at the scene of a minor injury accident at 435 Highway westbound at Metcalf Avenue. The officer was seated in his patrol vehicle when his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The officer in this incident was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Overland Park Police would like to remind citizens to travel with care and caution. Please do not be out on the roadways unless necessary.

If you are involved in an accident that does not involve injuries and the vehicles are able to be moved from the roadway, please respond to the Overland Park Police Station at 12400 Foster at a later time to make your report.

If you find yourself approaching a stationary emergency vehicle, please remember to slow down and move to a lane away from the emergency vehicle if possible.
