The Internet has changed the landscape of brand marketing and advertising forever.
The Internet is where people in the 21st Century get their news and information. Not only are consumers exposed to brands and businesses on the Web, they also research product information, evaluate options and customer opinions, and build a knowledge base that drives their purchase decisions. And, of course, more and more of these purchase decisions are even transacted online.
- "Some 55% of adult Americans now have broadband internet connections at home, up from 47% who had high-speed access at home in 2007," according to the Pew Internet Project's December 2008 survey. With growth in broadband at home, just 10% of Americans now have dial-up internet connections at home.
- "Internet advertising revenues reached $5.8 billion for the first quarter of 2008. The 2008 first quarter revenues are an 18.2 percent increase over the same period in 2007, and represent the second highest quarter ever recorded, after Q4 2007's $5.9 billion," according to the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB).
- A study from IDC indicates that on average people spend 32.7 hours online a week and only 16.4 hours watching television. Newspapers and magazines get only 3.9 hours of our attention. IDC surveyed 992 Americans aged 15 years and older.
- "Internet ad spending will double by 2011 to 42 billion," according to eMarketer.
- Over all, 75% of adult Americans use the Internet, according to data from the Pew Internet & American Life Project gathered from October 24 to December 2, 2007. That number is up from the 70% during the same time in 2006.
- Frequency - a beauty of the online world is that it never closes. Your marketing programs will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week
